Partners in Education
Community Education

Community Career Education is a major focus of the Partners in Education (PIE) career component.  Partners in Education emphasizes the steps of career exploration:  awareness,    assessment, exploration, selection, and application.

A variety of materials and resources have been developed—placemats, coloring books, posters—and made available to the community to emphasize the importance of K-12 career exploration.

PIE promotes career exploration at a variety of community events, such as the Big Event for Little Kids, and at community sites, such as the Career Center (a community career exploration center on the NWTC campus).  PIE also sponsors a number of career programs for area school districts, and area businesses are encouraged to participate in one or all of these programs.

Through a new partnership developed through Partners in Education and Wisconsin Careers of the Center on Education and Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Careers Connection, will convey priceless career information about area businesses to students and adults.  When students use the WISCareers program at their schools or homes, they will be able to explore career opportunities in area businesses.  Area businesses are encouraged to add local information to Careers Connection or provide a link to their Web site.
