Youth Apprenticeship was developed in 1992 as a part of Wisconsin's school-to-work strategy and is available through Partners in Education programming. Starting in the students' junior year, Youth Apprenticeship is a rigorous two-year elective program that combines academic and technical classroom instruction with mentored on-the-job learning. Through Youth Apprenticeship in the Green Bay area, students learn skills and increase career options in the following industry areas: printing services, health services, auto collision, auto technology/AYES, drafting & design-engineering, drafting & design-mechanical, logistics business management, lodging management, construction, cabinetry, manufacturing/machining, welding, information technology/networking, financial services or industrial equipment technology. Future programs will be developed based on community need and interest.
Youth Apprenticeship helps students and employers in the Greater Green Bay Area build a strong academic foundation and technical know-how to help prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow. Employers play an active role in shaping the quality of our future workforce by becoming a classroom for teaching the career and employment skills students need to make a positive impact in our community.
